Fairy Meadows
Fairy Meadows is a wide green meadow with a direct view of Nanga Parbat, the ninth highest mountain in the world. Waking up to the sunrise on its snow face is the reason most people make the trip.
The jeep ride from Raikot Bridge is narrow and steep, and the walk after it is steady but fine for most healthy people. Wooden huts and camps are available at the meadows, and many visitors stay at least one night. Fit hikers continue to Beyal camp and the Nanga Parbat base camp viewpoint.
Nights are cold even in July. Bring warm layers, a torch and enough cash, as there are no banks or card payments up there.
How to reach
From Raikot Bridge on the Karakoram Highway, take a local jeep up a narrow track to Tato village, then walk about two to three hours to the meadows. Only local jeeps are allowed on the track.
